Uncomfortable in water? Unbalanced? Nervous swimming without floaties?
Great for those who are timid or fearful of water. Introduces basic safety rules, body buoyancy, conditions to hold breath, water in face, and wall safety.
Best for ages 3 to 5.
Student advances when they can jump in, reach for the wall with limited assistance and the fear factor has turned to fun factor.
No fear? Loves water?
Building foundational skills to swimming: improving, correcting, strengthening proper form in kicks, arm pulls, breath control, and sealing those front and back floats. If you can float, then you can swim.
Best for ages 3 to 6 (sometimes older).
Student advances when they can hold a back float, do a front float, jump in, get to the wall, and climb out without assistance.
I float really well… now what?
With foundational skills like breath control, solid floats, and straight leg kicks, it’s time to build strokes. We start with a competitive backstroke then elementary backstroke because these are lifesaving skills. Then the beginnings of freestyle with tummy floating in streamline position with kick and arm pull comes next.
Best for ages 5 to 99.
Student advances when they can swim the length of the pool with both back strokes, has great breath control, and streamline front floats.
Am I considered water safe? I get so tired while swimming… why? How do I prepare to join a team?
By the end of this course you will know the proper techniques for three different strokes and beyond. The main focus is rotary side breathing and proper rhythm for freestyle. Build stamina, strength, confidence and skills.
Best for ages 8 and older (sometimes younger).
Student graduates with a Water Safe Certificate when they can jump into deep water, tread water for 60 seconds, swim 100 yards without touching the wall or bottom then float for a minute and climb out plus passes a written safety exam. The water test takes place at SportsCom. This is the ULTIMATE goal for all!
